Leveraging Collaboration in Notion
Example of organizing exam solutions
1 Benefits of Collaboration
- Workload Reduction:
- Collaborating with others can alleviate the burden of creating comprehensive notes.
- By inviting individuals to edit the same page, we can distribute the workload and ensure a more efficient note-taking process.
- Error Correction:
- Making mistakes while taking notes is common.
- By inviting others to co-edit the notes, we enhance chances of identifying and rectifying these errors.
- Leveraging the "comment" function on the Notion page allows for effective error detection and correction.
2 Example of Notion Collaboration
Here I share an example when I prepared for the qualifying exam.
Since there is no official solution for the past exam problems, I think it would be interesting and advantageous to gather solutions from various sources, and organizing them into a reliable and comprehensive collection.
This collection, which appears as a Notion page, will
- benefit my colleagues and me in our exam preparation
- provide valuable resources for future students undertaking the same examination.
Recognizing the extensive effort required to build this collection, I
have invited
my colleagues to contribute in the following
ways:
- Uploading solutions for unsolved problems to distribute the workload.
- Potentially correcting solutions provided by others using the
comment
feature.

In the notion page I created, all the problems from the qualifying exams in the past 4 years are organized by date and subject. (template is here, details are omitted in the template)

Problem and Solution: each problem has a toggle list, which includes the original problem and the solutions from different people.

Comment: Access to the comment
feature
is available to everyone on this page. If you have concerns or
difficulties understanding a solution, simply mark the relevant section
and ask your question through comments. The commenting feature supports
inline math and picture uploads, facilitating convenient clarification
and interactive discussions.

Subject Glance: For a specific subject, you can quickly look over all the related problems, providing a comprehensive view and facilitating analysis of the problem scope within that subject.

Publish: After the exam, I also utilize the
publish
feature on our collaborative Notion page to share
it with other students who are preparing to take the same exam. By
enabling the allow comments
option, anyone with the link can
access the page and provide valuable comments and insights.

3 What’s More
🤦Late update since the last Notion post.
This post demonstrates how Notion's exceptional features foster seamless and efficient collaboration.
Additionally, Notion offers a variety of remarkable integration features and API connections that I am eager to share more about in the future.
